The NYT reported this morning that some billionaire stock trade shareholder (Ameritrade I believe) was getting ready to launch a multi-million dollar attack ad on Obama featuring Reverend Wright.

This was shot down fairly swiftly by Mitt Romney who said he does "repudiate" it. This is surprising to me as I had predicted that the campaign would not only be formulated but also implemented. The logic by guest pundits on MSNBC's Hardball is that it takes Romney's campaign off of his wheelhouse: the economy. They cited as proof how the entire day's news was spent on the Rev. Wright ads and not the economy.

It will be interesting to see if the ads get picked up by some other PAC and run anyway. I think the right still really wants to use them.
