Pelosi's first video report for Bill Maher was from Mississippi. I think she was covering Republicans only. This time to show balance she went to interview people who are supposedly the base of the Democratic Party. Video here:

She interviews people waiting on line for welfare.
I don't think it's fair at all. First, I don't think those people represent most people on the welfare line. Those people were just ridiculous. Even the guys in Mississippi weren't that bad. Secondly, I don't think it's fair to choose a welfare line as a sample of the Democratic base. That's as dumb as treating right wing milita movements as a sample of the Republican base. I think a fair analogy of liberals would be people hanging around in Washington Square Park in Manhatten. That would include your hippies, your intellectuals, your random poor people, etc.
Mississippi (far right) <-> New York (far left)
Poor Republicans <-> Poor Democrats
She could have gone through some poor neighborhoods in NYC (in the daylight). Jobless people on welfare is a slice of poor people, not poor people as a whole.
