Obama Compliment Fail Goes Awry into Racism

    http://www.newser.com/story/138313/f...-comments.html

French Elle's outrageous "compliments" for the Obama family's "jazzy" style has sparked a race row. Finally, Elle gushes, the First Family is following "white fashion" codes. "Chic" has at last become a "plausible option" for a community until now pegged to "streetwear," writes columnist Nathalie Dolivo. As if that wasn't a big enough foot in the mouth, Dolivo adds that the "black-geosie" can always add "ethnic" touches from their "roots," such as a "batik-printed turban," to keep it real.

“The saddest thing is that this stupid journalist thought she was doing something positive for us,” a Fashion Bomb Daily reader notes. A stunned French Elle fan asks: “How, in 2012, in a France where there are at least three million blacks and mixed people, can you write such nonsense?" An editor says the article was misinterpreted.

Thank goodness that black folks have finally put down those straw skirts and loincloths and joined Western Civilization! Elle really shows a savvy amount of awareness of the modern world!

While this ridiculous writer may have been trying to compliment Obama, he/she clearly has no clue about American society, nor even common sense enough not to make ridiculous statements with no knowledge of what you're talking about.

"When I entered Republican politics during an earlier period of malaise, in the late seventies and early eighties, the movement got most of the big questions -- crime, inflation, the Cold War -- right. This time, the party is getting the big questions disastrously wrong."

"In the aftershock of 2008, large numbers of Americans feel exploited and abused. Rather than workable solutions, my party is offering low taxes for the currently rich and high spending for the currently old, to be followed by who-knows-what and who-the-hell-cares. This isn't conservatism; it's a going-out-of-business sale for the baby-boom generation."

"This is just ridiculous. I never thought as an economist I would have to spend so much time doing political analysis."

    - Diane Swonk, chief economist at Mesirow Financial
