This is something of an invitation to a new member, Finnish, to talk about the Crisis Management Initiative. http://www.cmi.fi/mission.html
Their mission statement: Crisis Management Initiative (CMI), a Finnish independent non-profit organization, works to resolve conflict and to build sustainable peace.
One of the obstacles for an organization perhaps such as CMI could be a tendency for the so-called major players in the world to offer little more than lip-service—sort of a “thanks for anything you can do, but don’t get in OUR way” kind of attitude. Do you perceive anything of that sort, Finnish?
I understand that CMI was founded at the beginning of this decade, but your mention of the organization is the first I’ve heard. Don’t misunderstand me. I don’t mean to insinuate that my awareness is a criterion for determining a given organization’s effectiveness. It’s only that I wonder why CMI is relatively unknown after almost 10 years. What are your thoughts?
