From Wikipedia: "The African Queen is a 1951 adventure film adapted from the 1935 novel of the same name by C. S. Forester. The film stars Humphrey Bogart (who won the Academy Award for Best Actor – his only Oscar), and Katharine Hepburn."

This movie is ranked #17 on the original American Film Institute list and according to Wikipedia the movie has been dropping every year that the list is updated to where it stands at #65 in 2007. I think this is fitting as the movie is not a great movie, but merely a good movie. I didn't find anything about this movie to be great, not Bogart nor Hepburn's acting, nor their characters. The plot is not great, nor is the action, nor the drama. Except for the fact that a lot of the movie was shot in the Congo, I really don't see what's so great about this movie. I think it is must be the logistical and technical feats of the movie for the time of its production that buoys the rank of this movie.

The movie was interesting to watch, but certainly half way through the movie it became a bit predictable and not really surprising. The movie had few real surprises in store.

Rating: 6/10
