From Wikipedia:

"All About Eve is a 1950 American drama film written and directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, based on the 1946 short story "The Wisdom of Eve", by Mary Orr."

The film stars apparently legendary actress Bette Davis as Margo Channing, a 40 year-old star of the theater and Anne Baxter as Eve Harrington, an admirer of Chaning who becomes part of her entourage. I just finished watching the movie and I just want to gush. I'll try not to.

So the movie is about 2 hours and 15 minutes long. For the first hour and a half, I found myself not really impressed by the movie. I selected this movie because it's ranked as #16 of the American Film Institute's 100 greatest movies. So I was wondering to myself what am I missing, do I not appreciate Bette Davis' acting and her character? However, after that 1.5 hours/1.75 hour mark, that's when it REALLY gets interesting and that's when the movie earns its status as a great movie. Marilyn Monroe also makes a cameo appearance in her typical (and disappointing to me) dumb blonde role.

That's really all I'm going to say about it. I am anti-spoiler generally. I will say though that when it got good I will quote what I remarked to myself:

"It's a trap. Grade A trap. Excellent." - Me

Rating: 8.75/10

I recommend this movie for anyone who wants to appreciate a good movie.
