View Full Version : Does it Matter if the US and Europe become Less White?

I cannot profess to be speaking from the emotional point of view of a white person as I am not white. However, I do think that the whiteness of America and Europe are a big deal to a lot of white people. A lot of white folks won't admit it, but it is.

So I ask: does it matter if the US and Europe become less white? A recent news story showed that there are now more minority (perhaps counting all Latinos as minorities) babies than there are white babies. We have the rise of anti-immigrant parties in Europe, and there's a lot of white folks mad about illegal immigration in this country as well. Also, two recent new members of this forum are white folks who are very much concerned about this issue, which is putting it extremely mildly.

Now I'm not sure what the birth/death/immigration rates are in Europe, but the way I figure in the United Stats Latinos are rising the fastest, followed by Asians. Now this begs the question: what is a Latino? Latinos can be dark, light or tan-skinned. Would it be fair to use J-Lo as an approximation for an average Latino? If so, if you add tens of millions of tan-skinned people directly into the white gene pool, would it really have much of an impact? The resulting child will not be as white, their hair might not be blonde and their eyes might be brown and not blue or green, but otherwise, would the cumulative result be nothing more than a more tan-skinned white guy, possibly with a very slightly larger nose, brown eyes and brown hair?

If that's all it is, then does the rising tide of racial and ethnic minorities matter?

I'm not saying they're all gonna come out like Jessica Alba, but this is interesting:

From Wikipedia:

Her mother is of Danish and French Canadian descent and her father is Mexican American

Mariah Carey:

Her mother is Irish American and her father is of Afro-Venezuelan and African American descent.

Contrast with:

Taylor Swift

Megan Fox

So the US is moving from a lower proportion of Megan Foxes and Taylor Swifts, to a higher proportion of Mariah Carey's and Jessica Alba's. For Europe, it's not just a higher proportion, it's higher numbers of minorities and lower numbers of whites, as in my opinion, Europe's total populations are basically maxed out.

Is all of that accurate? Does it matter? Personally, I love blue and green eyes, but like I say, I'm not white, so I'm not going to get upset about a more multiracial society.
