According to a recent Iowa poll:
publicpolicypolling.blogspot.com/2011/06/romney-leads-in-iowa-cain-surging.html
Mitt Romney 21%
Sarah Palin 15%
Herman Cain at 15%
Newt Gingrich at 12%
Michele Bachman at 11%
Tim Pawlenty at 10%
Ron Paul at 8%.
This poll tells me a few things.
* There are a lot of dumb Gingrich supporters. There is no reason to be supporting him.
* It is very surprising that Romney leads in Iowa, a state he has struggled with and practically conceded defeat in
* It is possible that Cain could emerge as the strongest rival to Romney, the anti-Romney as it were
* Pawlenty appears to have flat-lined
I think a Cain-Romney race would be more interesting than a Pawlenty-Romney race. I'm starting to suspect that Pawlenty will not emerge as the anti-Romney. Pawlenty is a phoney and Republicans detect this.
